Brianna DeLa Loza Student Profile

Brianna DeLa Loza Student Profile

By Rena Keyes

Brianna DeLa Loza joins the Zoom call with a big smile and I can already tell she’s the type of person to light up your day just by saying hi.

Brianna is a junior at San Marcos High School. She’s determined to make everybody feel involved and included at the school. Brianna pours all her effort into her work and extracurriculars, which include her 6 daily classes, ASB, Varsity Cheer, and the New Student Outreach Committee.

Her main focus while being in these extracurriculars is to “make everybody feel like they don’t need a certain type of personality to be a leader.” She stresses all ideas are valued and everybody always has something to contribute to the situation. She is even planning a social distance drive by for the New Student Outreach Committee to make all new students feel welcome at San Marcos High School, even from home.

As Brianna is sitting down outside on the Zoom call she opens up about her work load for the year. She’s not always up on her feet making students feel included and leading the campus, she also has classes of her own. Brianna talks of how she likes to “challenge [her] limits and potential.” She is optimistic about this year, saying she’s “really excited to see what [she] can do under the circumstances, especially while everything [she is] doing is more social based and [she] can’t do that right now.”

Although she’s taking many leadership extracurriculars, Brianna’s real passion is film. She said she “was the CTE ambassador for film last year and [she] hopes to be a director,” even revealing that she’s made multiple short films on her own. However, the extracurricular skills will still come into play in her future as her leadership will help her “tell people what to do” on a set and her creative skills from planning ASB events and other activities will help in “hopefully making a movie or film everybody loves.”

Brianna plans to continue to be involved on campus the rest of her highschool career and encourage others to involve themselves as well. Her future looks bright and I can’t wait to see where she ends up in life. Hopefully we will be seeing Brianna’s name in the credits at the movie theatre one day soon.
